Hot or nah? The sexiest robots in movie and TV history

Ex Machina's Ava has made waves for being eerily attractive for a robot. We're not sure how that makes us feel about ourselves or about Hollywood that we have this strange fixation with hot robots, but for now, we're just going to embrace it. So in no particular order, and without veering too far into the uncanny valley, here is our list of the hottest robots to grace our screens.

Rachael, Blade Runner

The Replicant femme fatale played by Sean Young is an iconic hot robot. While she was only implanted with human memories, her unfaltering belief that she was a human being made her only more sympathetic and tragic. We're not sure if androids do dream of electric sheep or not, but Rachael would definitely haunt our dreams.

Maria, Metropolis

The first hot robot (probably)! Maria was a robot created with the intention of seducing a bunch of revolting workers into submission, so she naturally makes this list. You may recognize her as the golden figure from iconic poster of the 1927 Fritz Lang classic. But don't worry, those workers weren't seduced by a tin man with boobs, she actually took on the appearance of an rebel teacher played by Brigitte Helm, and subsequently did a seduction dance that only a human body could pull off.

Klaatu, The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)

Keanu Reeves' blank stare and non-aging features kind of make us believe that he's already a robot, so seeing him as Klaatu in the 2008 version of The Day the Earth Stood Still wasn't that much of a stretch. He's already way more attractive than the original Klaatu (having human features really does wonders), so he's an automatic no-brainer on this list.

Number 6, Battlestar Galactica

The icy Cylon was dangerous, deadly and beautiful. Played by Tricia Helfer with intimidating grace, she was a standout character in Battlestar Galactica and took no prisoners.

Gigolo Joe, A.I.

A machine played by Jude Law programmed to fake love? Yeah, that'll make the list.

Cameron, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Summer Glau's waifish features didn't automatically figure robot, so it just makes her all the more attractive. Cameron was awkward and socially incompetent, but she definitely knew how to kick butt and protect John Connor from the coming apocalypse, so points to her.
