5 actors you didn't realize were in the 'Star Wars' prequels
It's Star Wars Day, a great day to keep freaking out about the new movieThe Force Awakens, and also a time to reflect on the old Star Wars films. Including the critically-panned prequels.
But, you know, Episodes 1 - 3 were big breaks for several stars! (Maybe not for Natalie Portman, but still.) So, just for this special fan holiday, we present 5 stars you probably didn't realize were in the Star Wars prequels:
1. Keira Knightley
George Lucas realized Knightley and Portman looked alike before you even knew who Knightley was. As the character Sabé, Knightley (who's four years younger than Portman) played the handmaiden and decoy to Portman's Queen Amidala in Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Portman
that she was 12 and "didn't know what I was doing" on set.
2. Sofia Coppola
Before becoming a well-known director, Coppola made a Star Wars cameo as another Queen Amidala handmaiden, Saché, in Episode I. She told The Guardian: "I just wanted to visit the set. I know George (Lucas) from growing up near him and I thought, 'Oh, it'll be fun to be actually be on set but not be in the way.' I'm really just in the background."
3. Rose Byrne
Byrne was, yes, a handmaiden in Star Wars before she starred in X-Men and Bridesmaids. The Australian actress played Dormé in Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones.
4. Dominic West
The star of The Affair and The Wire had a line in The Phantom Menace. He was a palace guard named Jarus Jannick who got to say this: "Boy's here to see Padmé."
5. Joel Edgerton
Way before he was in The Great Gatsby and Warrior, Edgerton had an important part in Episode II and Episode III. He was Owen Lars, the stepbrother of Anakin Skywalker and the adoptive father/uncle of Luke.
