'Mad Max' stars unite: Mel Gibson joins Tom Hardy at 'Fury Road' premiere
The cast of the new Mad Max: Fury Road came out for the Hollywood premiere of the film at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Guess who else was there?
That's right: The original Max joined the new guy on the carpet.
Mel Gibson seemed to officially pass the Mad torch to new franchise star Tom Hardy. Not even director George Miller saw that coming.
"I didn't know that was gonna happen," said a flabbergasted Miller at the premiere. "That was wonderful, like I was time-traveling in some weird way."
We wanted to know: How is the new Max different from the old one?
"They're more of the same than they're different," said Miller. "They're two very charismatic, lovable guys who have kind of a danger inside. ... And I think that's why they're movie stars. That's why we watch them with a fascination."
