Hear Skylar Astin's pitch for 'Pitch Perfect 2 1/2'

In the first Pitch Perfect, Skylar Astin's Jesse enrolled in college, joined a capella team the Treblemakers, fell for Anna Kendrick's Beca, became the de facto leader of the Trebles, sang some great songs and got the girl.

In Pitch Perfect 2, the character doesn't get quite as much to do. Yes, we hear him sing, but Jesse spends most of his onscreen time being a really devoted boyfriend. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!) Astin talked at the Pitch Perfect 2 premiere about how his character is such a supportive guy, it's almost boring.
"It could've been interesting if they went a direction where Jesse's just three years later, totally over it, doesn't even pay attention to Beca," he joked.
At one point in Pitch 2, Jesse travels to Denmark with his friend, the cute and dorky Benji, to see Beca's Barden Bellas perform. Astin thinks more could be done with that bromantic trip, which was taken offscreen. In fact, the actor has an idea for another installment of the Pitch franchise:
"(It could be called) Pitch Perfect 2-and-a-half, like they did with Lion King, where they just kinda move the cameras over. See what Benji and Jesse were up to on that road trip over to Copenhagen," he suggested.
However, he doesn't have high hopes for his brilliant movie concept:
"This is never gonna go anywhere, (although) I'm tweeting it right now, with my mind."
