'The Flash' in crisis! About that CRAZY cliffhanger...

Spoiler alert! The following contains spoilers for Tuesday night's episode of The Flash.

Wow, what an amazing way to end a stellar first season of The Flash.

"Fast Enough," was filled with tears, weddings and time-travel jargon (and maybe some peeks at some super-powered futures for our favorite Flash characters?), but those last 10 minutes blew everything else out of the water. Who knew so much could happen in so short a time?! Only on a show that somehow makes time travel the least important part of the episode.

Let us count the ways the ending of The Flash made our jaws drop. Strap in your time machines, because this is going to get heavy, Doc.

Turns out, Barry didn't save his mom

Barry was wrestling with giving up his whole life with Joe and Iris, and meeting Caitlin and Cisco, by going back in time and saving his mom from getting murdered.

But when he finally went back at the urging of Harrison Wells (or Dr. Evil, as Cisco called him), he didn't stop her murder. Instead, he revealed that he was her son and tearfully said goodbye to her. And when Barry cries, we cry.

Eddie shoots himself

Eddie no!

This completely took us by surprise, but the episode was planting the seeds for Eddie to do something drastic -- what with Dr. Martin Stein giving him that pep talk about being a wild card who can take charge of his own destiny. And Eddie took charge of his destiny in the most permanent way -- by ending his own life to save everyone else.

When Harrison was about to kill Barry for not changing the past and letting him go back to the future, Eddie shot himself in the chest, saving the Flash but dooming Eddie and Iris' future together. And we were bawling again.

Eobard Thawne/Harrison Wells phases out of existence

Anyone who's seen Back to the Future knows what happens next. As Eddie's descendent, Eobard Thawne no longer exists and phases out of existence, transforming from Harrison Wells back to his original body. It's gnarly hearing Eobard scream in pain as his existence is torn to shreds by Eddie's sacrifice. R.I.P. Reverse Flash. You were a truly great villain.

The Flash leaves us with Barry trying to stop the wormhole

But with Harrison Wells no longer existing, what does this mean for the current timeline?!

The wormhole opens once again, and threatens to swallow all of Central City -- and potentially the world. The Flash is left in a crisis, trying to contain the wormhole by -- you guessed it -- running really fast around it. But the episode just stops there, leaving us wondering whether Barry succeeds in closing the wormhole, or whether we'll be in a completely alternate universe come season 2.

And what does this mean for all the hints we got of Caitlin and Cisco's possible futures as Killer Frost and Vibe, or that glimpse of Jay Garrick's helmet? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, we're waiting for The Flash to come speeding back to our TV's in the fall.
