Who did 'Bachelor' Chris Soules favor in 'Bachelorette' face-off?
LOS ANGELES – Former Bachelor Chris Soules acknowledges he's pleased with the result of the competition between Britt Nilsson or Kaitlyn Bristowe to be title character in the new season of ABC's The Bachelorette.
On the same night that Kaitlyn secured that title by winning a majority of votes from the men seeking the bachelorette's favor this season, Soules was at ABC's Dancing with the Stars, which awarded Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy the mirrorball trophy in Tuesday's Season 20 finale.
Who did Soules, who rejected both ladies on his season of The Bachelor, think deserved to get the votes?
"I really thought Kaitlyn deserved to win. Kaitlyn obviously made it to the final four (during his Bachelor season). I had a real connection with her and wanted to see her find somebody," he tells Paste BN at the Dancing finale. "I really got close to her and we had a great relationship, but I want the best for Britt as well.”
Soules, who was eliminated as a contestant earlier this season on Dancing, is not surprised by Willis's ballroom victory.
"She was my pick. That’s the one I thought really deserved to win," he says. "I felt like she had grown the most and become a true dancer. She really didn’t have any dance experience."
The former Bachelor was heading back to Iowa after the Dancing finale. He says he's still going strong with Whitney Bischoff, the woman he proposed to at the end of his show.
“We’re all set. We’re going to live life. I don’t have to dance anymore," he says. "We get to live a normal life together and start thinking about our future.”
Kaitlyn resumes her Bachelorette season with a two-hour episode on Monday (ABC, 9 p.m. ET/PT).
