Jimmy Kimmel can barely make it through his tribute to David Letterman

It's an emotional week for comedy. David Letterman is officially saying goodbye to the world of late night TV, and many celebs are, in their own ways, saying goodbye to Dave. But no single tribute to Letterman's many years in late night got as emotional as Jimmy Kimmel's. Kimmel recounted on last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live how big an impact Letterman has had on his life (we mean, his first car had "Late Night" vanity plates). As Kimmel got going the tears started flowing, and although he stopped them for a second, he couldn't couldn't keep them away forever. By the end of his tribute he was straight up crying:
"I watched (Late Night with David Letterman) every night and never missed it, and little did I know that many years and many pounds later, that watching the show was a great education for me. I learned almost nothing in college. I really didn't. But watching Late Night, not only did I learn how to do everything from Dave, the reason I have this show is because the executives at ABC saw me when I was a guest on Dave's show and hired me to host this show. I want to thank Dave and his writers and his producers."
Kimmel also reminded his audience that he'll be airing a repeat Wednesday night and hoped that they all would tune in for Dave's big goodbye.
"Dave is the best and you should see him."
Excuse us, we have something in our eye.
