It's been a New York minute and the 'Letterman' set is already trash
Goodbye bridges. Goodbye chair. Goodbye bright lights that shone everywhere.
Less than 24 hours after David Letterman wrapped his last episode of the Late Show, his set has already found a new home. The dumpster.
Us Weeklyreports that moving trucks came in on Thursday to haul off the iconic set and perform the most gut-wrenching reno EVER to make room for new host Stephen Colbert. The magazine also said that the legendary marquee will be removed next week, and we're wondering if they're going to take our hearts right along with it.
Some fans picked through the remains, and if we were within any reasonable proximity to the city, we would've swan dove into that dumpster too!
The good news is NPR says at least one piece of the set survived the massacre. Letterman's desk was apparently bubble wrapped and salvaged. And, while we know this iconic piece of history should rightfully be displayed in a museum, we're also selfishly hoping a kind stranger is sending it to our house as a gift.
Though Letterman's set is gone, he will, of course, never be forgotten.
