Oops! Debra Messing and Anna Chlumsky wear nearly identical Tonys dresses

Men seem to have no problem looking basically exactly alike at a formal event, which usually turns into a veritable sea of tuxedos.

But, when it comes to the ladies, wearing the same dress as another woman is a big no-no. It's happened to everyone, and last night it happened to Debra Messing and Anna Chlumsky.

When they stepped onstage to present an award, it became pretty clear that their stylists were not in touch beforehand. Both women looked stunning in their version of plum gowns with crisscross necklines.

Even they acknowledged the awkward outfit snafu, giving each other some playful side eye as they stepped up to the mic.
