'Jurassic' joke? Author Joyce Carol Oates tweets about 'barbaric' dinosaur hunting

You know how you sometimes have to call your parents to tell them that an article they read on The Onion is not, in fact, real?

Well, we might have to start doing that for author Joyce Carol Oates, too, because it seems that she totally missed the humor in this tweet poking fun at Jurassic Park, which is buzzing for obvious reasons this week.

Apparently, she couldn't handle the sight of director Steven Spielberg posing with his "kill," a "dead" "triceratops" in a photo taken -- on the Jurassic Park set, obvi -- more than 20 years ago.

Here's her unfortunate tweet, which she (kinda unconvincingly) tells Newsweek was just a joke, you guys:

And, because Twitter has absolutely NO CHILL, here are some of the tweets making fun of her faux pas/joke. Sigh.

To Spielberg's credit, everything just looks SO REAL, so the confusion is kinda understandable. Wait, not it's not.

Never mind.
