Channing Tatum really, REALLY hated being in ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’
Channing Tatum is a bona fide movie star. With the sequel to Magic Mike coming out this summer, he proved that he can sell a movie with only his abs (and the abs of some of his friends).
But he wasn't always so powerful in Hollywood. Once upon a time, Tatum was just another up-and-coming actor, trying to make a name for himself, and he signed a three-picture deal with Paramount that led to him being in G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra. And that is something he definitely regrets.
In a candid interview with Howard Stern, Tatum opened up about the movie, which he really, really didn't like:
"Look, I’ll be honest. I (expletive) hate that movie. I hate that movie. I was pushed into doing that movie. (After) 'Coach Carter,' they signed me for a three-picture deal ... And as a young (actor), you’re like, ‘Oh my god, that sounds amazing, I’m doing that!’"
By the time the film started production, Tatum was in a much different place in his career, but he was stuck. Even though, as he said, "the script wasn't any good," he had to make the movie, because he signed a contract.
But hey, we think it all worked out pretty well for him in the end. Did we mention that Magic Mike sequel?
