How do you portray a person who's been hailed by some as an American hero and slammed by others as a national traitor? You don't -- at least not in the first trailer for Snowden, the biopic film directed by Oliver Stone and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

For the first trailer of the film, we get an eerie version of "This Little Light of Mine" being sung as we slowly pan away from an American flag, and floating words tell Snowden's rise from NSA analyst to U.S. fugitive. And surprise! The flag turns out to be upside down because no one can trust the government. Happy Fourth of July.
