Dave Grohl was 'high as a kite' when he designed his concert throne

Nothing was going to keep Dave Grohl from playing his own mega-concert, not even the giant purple cast on his leg.

After the Foo Fighters frontman broke his leg — and kept playing — after tumbling off a stage last month, the band cancelled a number of European shows so Grohl could recover.

But July 4th was the Foo Fighters' giant 20th anniversary show in D.C., so Grohl played the show sitting on a throne of guitars.

And in between songs, he regaled the crowd with a story about how the throne came into existence.

Naturally, it involved some hospital drugs.

And while the throne made its debut sans "lasers and s***," it was good enough for Grohl, who had more energy sitting in that throne than most frontmen can muster standing up.

Will the throne make an appearance at future Foo Fighters shows?

These amazing tour t-shirts hint "yes:"
