Watch: The 'Fantastic Four' cast grins and bears it through a racist, sexist interview
Another day, another round of celebs going through a painfully offensive interview while shilling their latest movie. This time it's Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara having to sit through an interview where they're asked about their respective skin colors and Mara is berated for cutting her hair. Seriously.
In a recent interview with the Rock 100.5 Morning show in Atlanta the interviewers have trouble with the concept of Mara and Jordan playing siblings:
You're white and you're black. How does that happen?
Oi.
Jordan, who has dealt with questions like this ever since it was announced that he was going to play the traditionally white superhero, answered by pointing out that families come in all different forms, and how they got together isn't really that important:
There’s a whole bunch of different family dynamics there can be without the obvious adoption.
After leaving the whole siblings topic behind, they turn to the ever-pressing subject of Mara's hair, and why a hot girl like her would ever cut it. This is a thing that was said:
You're way, way hot. Why'd you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful.
We repeat: Oi.
Mara tries to laugh it off a bit, saying, "this is a great interview," before calmly explaining that she cut her hair because she can do whatever she wants:
I cut my hair for a movie I just did. ... I'm an actress, I have to be a chameleon.
The interviewer responded by saying he hoped she could grow it back for any future sequels and then complimenting her on her toes, because that is the height of professionalism.

Rock 100.5 Morning host Jason Bailey defended the interviewer's questions to BuzzFeed (while managing to get in another dig about how women "can't take a compliment"):
Look, not a huge fan of these controlled 5-7 minute interview junkets they run in the first place but I was curious about the brother and sister thing. You have a white sister and black brother wouldn’t you want to know how that happened? I did. The other Fantastic Four franchises explain the relationship so I figured with this new hipster version they’d have some different backstory.
My partner’s (Southside Steve) conversation about Kate’s hair is something that came up while Michael B Jordan took a phone call so I think they were kind of just going back forth in a playful way. As for him complimenting her toes and why people are upset about that … sorry … no idea. Steve likes girl’s toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented. Those that are upset on Twitter I guess don’t get enough of them. Who knows?
This is almost as groan-worthy as the interview itself.
