VMAs 2015: What you should know about the performers
The Video Music Awards are on MTV this Sunday, and they'll likely be outrageous, because Miley Cyrus is hosting. But who's performing? MTV revealed most of the names...
And here's what we can expect from them:
Pharrell
Whether he's dressed as a bellhop, bringing on celebrity guests or just wearing an amazing hat, the artist bound to do something novel and noteworthy. We're expecting him to perform Freedom. Believe it or not: This is Pharrell's first VMA performance.
Demi Lovato
We're gonna go ahead and assume she's going to sing Cool For the Summer, and it probably won't be from a slippery surface this time! We're looking forward to hearing her reliably-amazing vocals from the main stage for the first time. (She's performed the pre-show before.)
The Weeknd
If his performance is anything like it was at Canada's Juno Awards, we can expect plenty of impressive runs. He's performing Can't Feel My Face on TV for the first time, but we'd be very OK if he sang his other singles Earned It, The Hills orTell Your Friends, too.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Remember when they performed Same Love
? It's still chills-inducing. Oh, and J-Hud showed up. This year, they'll probably perform their bizarre new singleDowntown, and/or make us cry again
. We hope Ed Sheeran shows up.
Tori Kelly
The singer that Rolling Stone recently called "a cross between Lea Michele on Glee and Ariana Grande in world-domination mode," will probably make her VMAs debut with . But here's another suggestion: Let's keep Ed Sheeran onstage, and have them duet on .
Twenty One Pilots with A$AP Rocky
A$AP previously took the VMA stage with Rihanna in 2012, but now he's joining first-time performers Twenty One Pilots. We'd love to see a mashup of A$AP's Everyday with the Pilots' Stressed Out. Those songs are both sorta about being insecure. It could work thematically, right?
