One year after Joan's death, Melissa Rivers is doing sort-of OK
Melissa Rivers takes over on Fashion Police on Monday, replacing her mother Joan, who died last September.
No, she's not dwelling on the date.
"The only way I can get through this is just by moving forward," says Melissa Rivers. "I'm focusing on work. My mom would not want me to wallow."
It's been a year and Rivers just started scattering her mom's ashes.
And she says she still hears some of her mom's advice. This reporter, too, benefitted from a pep talk courtesy of Joan, who urged me to wear lipstick and go out on dates.
"She was rarely ever wrong," says Rivers, also a single parent. "She told me I'd never meet anyone sitting at home."
