J.K. Rowling says we've been pronouncing Voldemort's name wrong all this time
This week in things that make us question our entire childhood and well-being, J.K. Rowling debunked another thing we didn't even know needed debunking: How to pronounce Voldemort's name.
We mean, it seems pretty simple right? It's not like it's Hermione -- which is pure torture to learn how to pronounce when you're a first grader in America. But no, we've ALL been pronouncing it wrong. For 17 years.
Yes, the "T" is silent. So ... even the movies, our guiding light on how to pronounce all those insane British names, got it wrong?
Needless to say, Twitter was not happy
But at least her French fans stood up for her.
And at least one person, the U.S. audiobook narrator Jim Dale, was saying it right
Even the Dark Lord himself weighed in on the debate
Well now, we don't know what to do with ourselves. We might as well burn our Harry Potter fanclub badges. Everything is a lie.
