Trailer: Emma Watson rescues boyfriend from cult in 'Colonia'
Emma Watson dives into historical fiction (no, Noah doesn't count) with her latest prestige film, Colonia.
Based on true events surrounding the 1973 military coup in Chile, Watson stars as Lena, a German woman who gets separated from her boyfriend Daniel (played by the talented, needs-to-be-famous-now Daniel Bruhl) after he gets abducted by the government's secret police. She tracks him to a supposed charitable mission run by a lay preacher (Michael Nyqvist), but is in fact a sealed-off cult from which no one leaves.
The trailer for the Florian Gallenberger-directed thriller looks suitably intense, and we basically love Watson and want Bruhl to succeed in everything he does (seriously, why isn't he famous in the States already?).
Colonia will be released in Germany in January, and has no set U.S. release date.
