Kel Mitchell is back on Nickelodeon, and still loves orange soda
You probably know actor Kel Mitchell as the dimwitted, orange soda-obsessed character from '90s Nickelodeon show Kenan & Kel; or as the naive, braids-wearing cashier from 1997 comedy Good Burger (that was inspired by his character from Nick sketch comedy show All That). Don't worry: Mitchell, who's now 37, is OK with the associations.
He talked to Paste BN at the VMAs:
"It's all good," he said about fans stopping him "five times a day" to reference his work from 20 years ago. "I can't even go to drive-in restaurants, because they're always talking about 'Good Burger' or orange soda.'
But now, Mitchell is hoping you'll know him from a new Nickelodeon show. He plays a hip-hop mogul in Game Shakers, which debuted this weekend.
My character is "a mixture between Diddy, Kanye and 50 Cent," said Mitchell. "I get to rap, I get to sing. I actually studied Chris Brown a lot to get some new dance moves."
