Meet the Swiftie behind this massive Taylor Swift corn maze
Ah, the corn maze—a beloved American autumn tradition. And who's a more beloved American icon right now than Taylor Swift?
After previously maze-ifying everything from sports team logos to the 2012 presidential candidates, Summers Farms in Frederick, Maryland needed a new face to enshrine in the corn.
"This year we really didn't know what we were gonna do," Summers Farms' Jeff Greenwood told Paste BN. "And I was like, 'I want to do Taylor Swift!'"
Thus, the 12-acre Taylor corn maze was born. And to Greenwood, featuring the singer isn't just a publicity stunt—he's a big fan.
"She's a great role model, not only for the youth but for people in general," he said. "She's real and honest and does the right thing and she's true to herself. and we felt that she's a person that we felt really felt good [bringing to] our customers. So we thought, there's no better way that we could ever honor her and what she's done for the world than to put her in our corn maze."
Swift felt the love—and even shared the maze with her social media followers:
And like a true Taylor supporter, he even kept her recent country-to-pop transition in mind when choosing the photo for the maze.
"We first did one with a whole body shot with a microphone and guitar, but she's gotten away from the guitar thing—that was more what she was doing before," he said. "I might not be a true Swiftie out there, but I've always been a fan of her story and who she is."
Hey, Jeff—we think this more than qualifies you a Swiftie!
And yes, he'd love to host Taylor in her maze. "It'd be a dream to have her come and go through it," he said, though he's keeping "realistic expectations" about whether it'll actually happen.
Next up for Summers Farms—figuring out how to manage some larger-than-expected crowds.
