Julia Louis-Dreyfus burned Trump in her hilarious Emmys speech
If we listed Donald Trump's most absurd quotes next to a few lines from Julia Louis-Dreyfus' outsized buffoon of a Veep character, Selina Meyer, it'd be hard to tell who said what.
Trump's oversized personality has earned him comparisons to Selina—except, you know, he's a real person actually running for president—and when she won the Emmy for Best Actress in a comedy at last night's show, Dreyfus seized the chance to "accidentally" conflate the two characters.
"I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote [our show]: 'What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.' No, wait, no, I'm so sorry, Donald Trump said that."
Trump/Meyer 2016?
"It's getting trickier and trickier to satirize his stuff," she added.
It wasn't the first Trump joke of the night, as Andy Samberg invoked the Republican presidential candidate in his opening monologue, moving on to joke about Bernie Sanders and Kim Davis.
“Donald Trump, of course, is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere,” Samberg said. “But I’ve gotta say, sure, Donald Trump seems racist…. what else?”
