Seth Rogen: Fassbender is more James Franco than Ryan Gosling
In Steve Jobs, Michael Fassbender believably embodies the loquacious, domineering Apple co-founder as written by Aaron Sorkin. But on set, director Danny Boyle and his co-stars agree that he was actually quite the opposite.
Seth Rogen particularly remembers Fassbender's relaxed, easygoing vibe while shooting, telling Paste BN:
"He's a huge Big Lebowski fan. He's very funny, he has a good sense of humor. The movie is very funny, at times, and I think that he helps in that. I was worried he'd be very serious and [Ryan] Gosling-esque, if you will. He's not like that. He's much more [James] Franco-esque."
Unsurprising, given Fassbender's dry sense of humor at a New York Film Festival press conference Saturday afternoon, where he mocked Ashton Kutcher. And, as you might recall, he actually played The Dude in a Lebowski live read with Jennifer Lawrence in July:
As for Rogen, he doesn't have much in common with his Steve Jobs counterpart, either. In the movie, he plays Steve Wozniak, the engineering brains behind many of Apple's earliest innovations. But unlike Woz, Rogen is no tech geek:
"I'm not really at all. I'm not completely incompetent, but I'm generally looking for less reasons to be on my phone and on my computer."
Meaning, he doesn't have a favorite app:
"Texting? Is that an app? The phone?"
You can see Rogen and Fassbender go head-to-head when Steve Jobs opens Oct. 9 in New York and Los Angeles, before expanding nationwide.
