The Backstreet Boys surprised the Balmain x H&M launch

Of all the artists who could've regaled the A-listers at Tuesday night's star-studded Balmain x H&M launch, the Backstreet Boys aren't the most fashionable names that come to mind.

But Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing was reportedly aiming for nostalgia, not hipness, with his choice of performers for the NYC runway bash. And when you remember the average age of the night's models hovers around the mid-20s, the Backstreet Boys start looking like the perfect nostalgia act to get the calm-and-collected fashion crowd all worked up.

And sure enough, when the boy band favorites came out to perform hits like "Larger Than Life” and “I Want It That Way,” the front row—including campaign stars/BFFs Kendall Jenner (19) and Gigi Hadid (20)—ate it up.

Because everything about the launch was 'Larger Than Life.'
