The Misfits ARE in the 'Jem' movie... briefly
Fans of '80s cartoon band Jem and the Holograms were disappointed to find that trailers of the film adaptation (called Jem and the Holograms, in theaters now) contained no members of The Misfits, Jem's rival band. (They were also probably disappointed to find out that the movie has been critically panned.)
It turns out the group does make it into the movie... but briefly.
Spoiler Alert: We're about to give away part of the ending of Jem and the Holograms. STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW.
I mean, chances are you're not going to see it, anyway.
The movie Jem and the Holograms depicts the formation of the girl group fronted by "Jem." After a bunch of stuff happens that involves a dead father's robot, unnecessarily breaking into a building and babbling about having a social-media persona, Jem and her band-that-will-be-called-Holograms decide they will no longer be represented by Erica Raymond of Starlight Records (snarky Juliette Lewis, easily the best part of the movie), but by her son, Rio (hottie Ryan Guzman). Rio effectively kicks his mother to the curb with the help of his father's will (?). The credits start rolling.
Then, there's a post-credit scene.
We see Erica stumble upon a graffitied trailer that houses a few stars from Pitch Perfect and one green-haired singer called Pizzazz. Kesha is this Pizzazz, as you can see in photos shared on Twitter (with co-star Eiza Gonzalez).
The group of girls is upset to see Erica, who clearly dropped them from her Starlight Records label at one point and is now crawling back to try and represent them. Erica tells Pizzazz that Rio (her attractive son) is now hooking up with Jem. This makes Pizzazz angry enough to want to work with Erica to win Rio back (?).
We pull away from the trailer to find that the name "The Misfits" is written on it. The Misfits is Jem and the Holograms' rival girl group from the '80s cartoon.
