Kristin Wiig on the 'Ghostbusters' backlash: It 'bummed me out’
In case you missed it, when director Paul Feig announced that his upcoming Ghostbusters revival would star a group of women, some people were a little, how you say, upset about the whole thing.
Actually the announcement drew a tirade of vitriol and hate that was incredibly depressing and reminded us all just how toxic the Internet can be. Feig has already spoken out against the trolls multiple times, and now one of the stars of the film, Kristin Wiig, is speaking out as well.
She told Variety that, inevitably, all that hate just "bummed" her out:
“The fact there was so much controversy because we were women was surprising to me. Some people said some really not nice things about the fact that there were women. It didn’t make me mad, it just really bummed me out. We’re really honoring those movies.”
