New 'In the Heart of the Sea' trailer will make you fear the ocean

Well that was terrifying.

The new trailer for Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea

reminds us that a) Chris Hemsworth is a valid opponent for a giant whale, b) Moby Dick is more exciting than we remember from high school and c) the ocean is really scary and so are giant whales.

The movie is actually not an adaptation of Moby Dick but instead based on the real-life adventure that inspired Herman Mellville's book (if you can keep that straight in your head). But still there's a giant whale and people who are trying to capture it. It can kind of be most easily described as Thor: The White Whale. It even has new Spider-Man Tom Holland in its cast.

In the Heart of the Sea hits theaters on Dec. 11.
