Watch the very intense trailer for AMC's 'Preacher'

The Rev. Jesse Custer isn't like other preachers.

The first trailer for AMC's Preacher, which is being co-adapted by one Mr. Seth Rogen, presents us with a Man of the Cloth who is dangerous, supernatural and likes to scare children. You know, the usual.

For those who haven't read the cult Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series, the trailer does a really good job of setting up the seedy tone, without giving too much of the plot away -- which AMC might be watering down anyways, considering in the comics Jesse, his ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vampire named Cassidy set out on a mission to find God in the flesh. But hey, you never know. And it definitely looks like it's as violent as the comic.

Preacher will debut on AMC sometime in 2016.
