4 ways Miranda Lambert owned the CMA Awards
Objectively, the winner of this year's CMA Awards was Chris Stapleton, who walked away with a handful of major awards, a starmaking performance with Justin Timberlake and a new level of fame he hasn't achieved before. But the night's spiritual winner was Miranda Lambert.
After weeks of rumors about her ex Blake Shelton dating his Voice co-star Gwen Stefani culminated in headlines confirming their relationship hours before the CMA Awards started, Lambert more than deserved to have an amazing night — especially when the show's hosts joked about their break-up on stage, then shouted out Shelton and not her.
But Lambert's evening, which culminated in a win for Female Vocalist, felt like a total triumph for the singer. Here's all the times Lambert made us feel feelings during the awards:
When she walked the red carpet with pink hair and serious attitude.
Lambert's red carpet style involved a sleek black dress and amazing pink hair.
What a perfect way to start the evening.
When she performed an emotional anthem with grit and grace.
Her performance of Bathroom Sink was seriously inspirational, and man, those lyrics.
Here's just a taste:
Puttin' on my makeup
Puttin' off the hard stuff
Hoping that it passes
Fake smile and eyelashes
I wash my hands
And try not to think
Or dirty up my bathroom sink
Watch it below:
When she wore a Chris Stapleton shirt to accept her Female Vocalist award
What a class act.
And gave a sweet, sad and ultra-classy acceptance speech
"I needed a bright spot this year," Lambert told the crowd, before praising Stapleton's performance with Justin Timberlake and exiting the stage, in a short-and-sweet speech that was just right.
