Colbert has the best George Lucas story of all time

Given all of Colbert's breathless Star Wars fanboy-ing, we can notbelieve he kept this story from us for this long. Because on Monday night's show, the Late Show host shared a next-level tale of embarrassing yourself in front of your icon.

Way back in 2006, Colbert held a Greenscreen Challenge where he challenged Colbert Report fans to make videos with footage of him lightsaber-fighting, and invited George Lucas on the show to announce the challenge's winners.

As it turns out, a brief chat with Lucas during this episode would scar Stephen for life — thanks to a few of Lucas' employees who, in what's either an incredibly embarrassing mistake or a next-level troll, told Colbert that the Star Wars creator's preferred name for lightsabers was actually "laser swords."

(Spoiler alert: nobody calls them laser swords, including George Lucas.)
