Exclusive: How Woody and Buzz led to Arlo and Spot


There's a little Pixar movie called The Good Dinosaur that comes out Wednesday and tugs on the heartstrings with a long-necked Apatosaur named Arlo and his best buddy Spot, a caveboy. And 20 years ago, there was a little Pixar movie called Toy Story that tugged on the heartstrings with a pull-string cowboy doll named Woody and his best buddy Buzz Lightyear, a spaceman action figure. Not surprisingly, John Lasseter sees the comparison.

Pixar's chief creative officer — and the director of the original Toy Story — discusses how these two pairs of pals relate to each other in this exclusive featurette celebrating each flick. We get some classic Woody and Buzz moments, some neat glimpses of Arlo and Spot in their prehistoric frontier, and Lasseter's infectious enthusiasm getting everybody psyched for Good Dino, a film that's close to his heart:
