The witching hour is here, which means it's time for The BFG to be unleashed on the world.

The first trailer for Steven Spielberg's adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic is here, and it looks, well, bewitching. The short trailer shows 10-year-old bookworm Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), who finds herself awake at 3 a.m. -- what she calls the real witching hour -- leading her to almost get snatched out of her bed by the titular big friendly giant.

Based on Dahl's 1982 children's book of the same name, The BFG tells the story of Sophie and her new giant friend (Mark Rylance) as they set off on a quest to stop man-eating giants from invading. Directed by Spielberg, the film also stars Penelope Wilton, Rebecca Hall and Bill Hader.

The BFG hits theaters July 1, 2016.
