Kevin Hart, Diamond Ball host, really cannot contain his feelings
"I have tears coming out of my eyes!" exclaimed Kevin Hart at Thursday night's 2nd annual Diamond Ball.
The comedian could not contain his emotions during the black-tie charity event for Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation held at Los Angeles' Barker Hangar. As host of the event, Hart helped encourage guests to bid on items (including a guitar signed by Bono) to benefit the non-profit:
"You can see what your man's truly about ... That's right, fellas, I'll put you on blast. I don't care. You saw what he drove here. Let's see if he gives a damn about something that matters more than his car."
He even tried his hand at auctioneering:
Hart showed he was very dedicated to the cause of improving the quality of life for impoverished communities.
"I'm personally donating $50,000 out of the Kevin Hart back pocket," he announced.
But then he broke down. It happened after Jay Brown, the CEO of Roc Nation, bid a whopping $45.5 thousand on a replica of the Dior gown Rihanna was wearing.
"That's the most expensive glass of water Jay Brown's ever drank! He just paid $45,000 for that glass of water! What are you gonna do?" he said hysterically, between high-pitched bouts of laughter.
But the high bids and high emotions seemed to all help the foundation achieve a goal that Hart set at the beginning of the night: to raise more than $2 million, the amount raised last year.
They did it.
"We have surpassed $3 million. I call that the Kevin Hart effect," Hart joked.
