That's what reviews are saying about the new comedy that recasts the funny Other Guys co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as dad and step-dad, respectively, trying to compete for their kids. The movie, rated PG-13, is currently certified rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. We rounded up the best critic slams of the film:

Variety :

The movie "winds up an unpalatable mix with little to satisfy families or anyone who likes to laugh... audiences seeking a family-friendly Ferrell fix will quickly realize they should’ve stayed home and watched 'Elf' instead."

The Wrap :

"Someday, on cable, 'Daddy’s Home' will make for adequate, half-watched entertainment, but it’s not a movie that mommies, daddies or their charges should bother to leave the house to see."

Village Voice :

"It's tired in concept, flimsy in structure, and it only on occasion suggests that anything is being satirized."

The Hollywood Reporter :

The film "plays like a comedy underwater: Its rhythms are sluggish, its jokes predictable and the gags are set up with such thudding deliberateness that even the sight of Ferrell losing control of a motorcycle, careening through the air and crashing straight through his house barely raises an eyebrow."

And here's THR's biggest burn of all:

"To borrow a term from today’s youth — who, given the movie’s PG-13 rating and risk-averse humor, may be its target audience — 'Daddy’s Home' is basic."
