Red-carpet recall: Stars' best dresses of 2015

We've admired countless stars on many red carpets throughout the year. But instead of nitpicking where starlets' stylists went wrong, let's take a look back at the beautiful dresses that made us so happy that we wanted to hug them and their wearers out of appreciation.

Here are five of our favorite awards show ensembles from 2015, in no particular order:

Lupita Nyong'o at the Oscars

The fabulous Calvin Klein dress, encrusted with 6,000 white Akoya pearls, was so enviable at the Academy Awards that it was stolen. (It was later found.)

Anne Hathaway at the Met Gala

dress with a hood is a dress we want to own. Hathaway told Vanity Fair that the Ralph Lauren dress for the "China: Through the Looking Glass" exhibition was inspired by Chinese artists and Buddha.

Julianne Moore at the Golden Globes

Sequins? Feathers? Sparkles? We don't even understand what's happening with this silver and black Givenchy dress, but we know enough to deem it AMAZING.

Laverne Cox at the Emmys

Pay attention, world: This is cutouts done right! This figure-hugging teal Calvin Klein dress was classy and sexy and sleek and we love it so.

Gwen Stefani at the Grammys

OK, so this isn't a dress, but it's the jumpsuit of our dreams: a work of wearable art, while also being tailored, edgy and the most lovely thing we've ever seen. Thank you for your creation, Atelier Versace.
