Carrie Fisher schools 'Star Wars' trolls
Did you know that women aren’t supposed to age? No, really, it’s true. Just ask the trolls in Carrie Fisher’s mentions. They were understandably disheartened that Carrie appeared as an experienced general rather than a metal-bikini-clad princess in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. So, they nobly took it upon themselves to publicly debate whether or not the 59-year-old aged well.
But Carrie quickly shut all that down:
“Please stop debating about whether or not I aged well. Unfortunately, it hurts all three of my feelings. My body hasn’t aged as well as I have. (Bleep) us.”
She later added: “Youth and beauty are not accomplishments, they’re the temporary happy by-products of time and/or DNA. Don’t hold your breath for either.”
In the midst of schooling folks on the superficiality of ageism and body-shaming, Carrie also retweeted this user, who highlighted our culture's gross double standard.
