Watch Billy Joel, J.K. Simmons and Fallon's surprise doo-wop performance

The Billy Joel-Jimmy Fallon duet that Tonight Show viewers saw on last night's show? A cover of the Rolling Stones' Beast of Burden.

But the real treat from last night's show was an all-star duet that didn't even make it on-air.

While shooting promos for the episode with Joel and Fallon, fellow guest J.K. Simmons suggested the singer play one of this most beloved hits, For The Longest Time. And if you've ever heard the song, you know it's a poignant doo-wop tribute, sung totally a cappella.

And with the help of Joel's band, they all pulled it off

The adorably rough start, Simmons totally nailing the bass parts, Billy Joel's still-incredible riffing — it's a performance that ranks among our all-time favorite Fallon moments.
