Not even David Bowie could make jazz hands cool
David Bowie made a lot of things cool: androgyny and alter-ego characters, to name but two.
But there was one thing not even the Thin White Duke could pull off:
JAZZ HANDS.
In the midst of our massive Bowie bender yesterday (during which we listened to Heroes in three different languages), we re-watched his 1985 cover of Dancing In the Street with Mick Jagger for the first time in about 20 years and it was gloriously cheesy. In fact, it made us smile on a very sad day because Bowie's sense of humor was evident throughout.
We mean, look at the clothes!
There's a matchy-matchy shirt-pants and trench coat combo that looks like it was made from the Von Trapp's curtains. And he's rocking the same hairstyle as Blanche DuBois from The Golden Girls.
And the hall dancing
Bowie even does high-kicks!
