Yes, Jim and Pam from 'The Office' were 'genuinely in love'

If there was any doubt about the prospect of finding love at The Office, Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski gave us hope.

Throughout the course of their fictional romance, Fischer — who played Pam Beesly — and Krasinki — who played Jim Halpert — became proxies for that seemingly elusive "happily ever after." Their love was nonpareil, a prototype that left viewers waxing poetic about #RelationshipGoals. And, during a Wednesday appearance on Watch What Happens: Live, Fischer told a caller that the reason their chemistry felt so real is because it was.

“John and I have real chemistry. There’s a real part of me that is Pam and a real part of him that is Jim, and those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another," she said before adding, "But, in real life, we aren’t totally Pam and totally Jim, so in real life, we’re not, like, the perfect match.”

But even though the two went on to wed their real matches in July 2010 — Fischer married writer and director Lee Kirk and Krasinski married actress Emily Blunt — they still remain close.

“It's a complicated thing but I mean, he was like a type of spouse that I had for a long time," Fischer said. "He was my partner. We will always be close because of it.”
