Ha! Spirit Awards parody 'Room,' 'Carol'
Have you seen Room, the independent film that will likely earn Brie Larson her first best-actress Oscar on Sunday? Well, Spirit Awards hosts Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani opened the beachy show by reimagining what Room would have looked like if they were stuck in a tiny space together for five years. And you've got to see it to believe it.
Brie loved it.
The hosts really went for it mid-show with their Carol parody, in which a lingering waiter (Nanjiani) offers non-stop specials to Carol (played by McKinnon) and Rooney Mara's Therese. You could cut the tension with a knife (watch out for some NSFW language).
Later, McKinnon dressed up as a Kickstarter donor for Anomalisa who earned a free ticket to the Spirit Awards.
Cue her laying one on Paul Dano with a mouth stuffed with ham.
All in all, it was a solid showing from Nanjiani and our favorite late-night Hillary Clinton comedian.
