5 things Tina Fey taught us this week

Tina Fey is promoting her turn in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, where she plays a journalist embedded in the Middle East. So it works out that she has spent this past week dropping some undeniable truths on the world. And honestly, we shouldn't be surprised, as the former 30 Rock star has been teaching us how to live our lives for a very long time.

We rounded up the realest things that Fey told the world this week. Take notes, friends.

On women in the workplace to Paste BN's Patrick Ryan:

"It was important to me that it wasn’t just a knee-jerk rivalry (between her and Margot Robbie's Whiskey characters), because that’s not my experience. I've definitely worked in places where it’s a lot of dudes and very few women. The women stick together, so I wanted that to feel truthful."

On the "Hollywood bull (expletive)" at the Oscars to Howard Stern:

"I will say, being at the Oscars — and I don’t know if you guys feel this way when you go out there, but — I’m so glad I live (in New York), because half way through I was like, ‘This is some real Hollywood bull (expletive).' ... Everyone’s telling me (in acceptance speeches), like, what to do and people yelling at me about rape and corporate greed, but really it’s climate change. It’s like guys, pick a lane. Like, everyone, we’re going to fix everything tonight.’ And also, like, ‘you’re all rich. Why are you yelling at me about corporate greed? You’re all so rich.'"

On how she handles sex scenes to the Wall Street Journal:

“If I were to do a hardcore sex scene—ha!—people would think, ‘Eww, that’s like seeing my sister do that.' You hopefully have some sort of friendship with the audience. That’s a boundary I don’t want to cross with them.”

On why it's not a good time for women in comedy, to Town and Country:

“Every single interviewer asked, ‘Isn’t this an amazing time for women in comedy?’ People really wanted us to be openly grateful – ‘Thank you so much!’ – and we were like, ‘No, it’s a terrible time.’ If you were to really look at it, the boys are still getting more money for a lot of garbage, while the ladies are hustling and doing amazing work for less.”

On what she did after the Oscars to the New York Times:

“I had not one drop of booze — I just went back to the hotel and had a milkshake."

Keep teaching us your ways, Tina. We're listening.
