Christian Bale was almost in 'Batman v. Superman,' but not as Batman
Christian Bale may believe he "didn't quite nail" his role as Batman, but he could've had a chance to prove himself as someone else entirely in the upcoming Batman v. Superman.
Batman v. Superman director Zack Snyder revealed to FilmInk that he had talked about bringing Bale onto the film for a non-Batman role, but it didn't pan out. Maybe too many people would be distracted by a former Batman next to the Batfleck.
“This is a total and opposite reality from the Chris Nolan movies. It’s another universe, so we couldn’t hire Christian Bale if we wanted to, because he doesn’t exist in our world. Maybe we could hire him to play another part. We did talk about that briefly. I just wanted to hire Christian to play another part to make that obvious. Christian could play, like, Alfred with age makeup. No! Of course not. But you know what I mean. Even people at the studio would say, ‘Who are you getting from the other movies?’ And I was like, ‘Hey, come on guys, let’s all understand, it’s a different world.’"
The believability of Bale in old-age makeup aside, it was probably a good call, because we can only take so much growling and brooding in one movie. And Bale might get envy over Ben Affleck's Batman suit, which Snyder apparently installed with a zipper (thanks to Bale's own advice) and made it less like armor and more movable, according to FilmInk.
So now Affleck doesn't have to worry about not being able to move his head.
Thanks, Christian.
