Finn -- aka John Boyega -- surprises children at London hospital
He may be a "big deal" in the Resistance, but this weekend wasn’t about John Boyega (a.k.a Finn). Rather, it was about the children of Royal London Hospital.
Boyega, who played Finn in the Oscar-nominated blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, visited the hospital in character on Friday in association with Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. The actor delivered toys to young patients alongside faithful stormtrooper, Daniel Bell.
A patient at the hospital, Bell was diagnosed with a brain tumor. For his wish, the five-year-old requested to meet Boyega's character and help him dole out presents to the other children.
Boyega later shared several snaps from their visit, which apparently included lessons on life on Earth as well as a lightsaber battle.
"I stayed in character while I was with this brave boy asking him what a car was," Boyega shared on Instagram, adding, "He taught Finn about everything earth related! Really thankful for the opportunity this child granted me and I'm just humbled! I hope I played a little part in making you smile young stormtrooper."
Daniel's mom, Rosalind, confirmed as much in a Facebook post shared Saturday. "Thank you so so much Rays of Sunshine and John Boyega for granting Daniel’s wish to meet Finn and take toys to the hospital,” she wrote. "It was just amazing, I have no words! Daniel is still totally overwhelmed, I have never seen him so happy."
