Zendaya confirms her role in the new 'Spider-Man' movie

Spider-Man is going back to high school, and there's no better sign of it than the casting of Disney Channel star Zendaya.

The K.C. Undercover actress and frequent red carpet stunner finally confirmed the news from the beginning of the month that she had been cast in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot starring Tom Holland.

"I can't say anything else other than I'm going to be in it," Zendaya said on The Ellen Degeneres show Tuesday.

The news surrounding her role is still a mystery -- is she playing Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, a completely new character? -- but Zendaya was nothing but thrilled about her new role and big break in the movie business.

"When it comes to the acting space, I'm basically unknown. I've never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else. I auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and [broke] down those walls because a lot of people do have that pre-conceived notion of who I am based off previous things I've done, so you got to really break that down and go hard, put in the work, take all the meetings, take all the auditions."

The 19-year-old actress will be joining the also 19-year-old Holland in the untitled Spider-Man reboot, which will be directed by Jon Watts and is set to hit theaters July 7, 2017. Holland's Spider-Man makes his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, coming out May 6.
