Iggy Azalea spills the tea about Macklemore on 'WWHL'
Andy Cohen is so good at getting the dirt.
After stopping by Good Morning America Wednesday morning, Iggy Azalea visited the Watch What Happens Live Clubhouse in the evening, where she was forthcoming about a lot of topics. While playing a game of Spill the Music Indus-tea!, Azalea talked about Macklemore's mention of her name in White Privilege II. His not so flattering lyrics called Azalea out for cultural appropriation.
"You've exploited and stolen the music, the moment, the magic, the passion, the fashion, you toy with. The culture was never yours to make better. You're Miley, you're Elvis, you're Iggy Azalea."
The Aussie rapper revealed that she hasn't spoken to Macklemore since the song was released, and that he hasn't reached out to her--though he confessed to Billboard that he should've given her the heads-up.
"I don't think it was intended as a diss," she said. "But at least I would've been prepared when the headlines came out."
The Team artist also played Plead the Fifth, and Cohen asked her about Nicki Minaj's speech from the 2014 BET Awards, where some thought she called out Azalea for not writing her own songs.
"I have just as many people on my writing credits as she has on hers," Azalea said. "You can't look at the credits and be like, 'Oh look at this massive difference.' It's the same number of people on both," she said. Azalea also said that she didn't think anything of it when Minaj made her speech, and only caught wind of the alleged diss on Twitter. "Unless you say my name, I (don't) really have time to speculate." We hear that!
The media also tried to create a feud between Nick Young's fiancée and her collaborator on Pretty Girls, Britney Spears. But Azalea says there was no beef, and Spears even came to her house for salad. But not before her camp checked out Azalea's pad ahead of time to make sure nothing fishy was going on. "They came and checked my place to make sure I wasn't trying to stash anything weird and give it her or something," she said. Well, we've got to keep our Brit Brit safe.
Azalea was also candid about her plastic surgery. She said that she wanted to be open with people about her breast augmentation and nose job because the results of those surgeries were quite obvious. "Some people are like, 'It's contouring,'" she said about her nose. "It's like, yeah, like contouring with a chisel."
Iggy Igg, we always appreciate your honesty.
