Exclusive: YouTube's top trending March videos

Remember March? It was only a few days ago but it seems like longer that since John Oliver denounced Donald "Drumpf," the Foo Fighters squelched breakup rumors or Damn Daniel paid a visit to Ellen.

In an exclusive ranking from YouTube, Paste BN reveals the video site's top trending videos of the last month, based on total views, virality and shares. You can peek at a real-time current list of today's top videos by checking out the site's new Trending tab.

Drumroll, please.

1. 'Captain America: Civil War' trailer

The trailer for the third Captain America flick has been seen over 56 million times — with 21 million of those views coming in its first 24 hours. It also garnered 7 million more pairs of eyes that the movie's first trailer managed.

4, 'Last Week Tonight With John Oliver': Make Donald Drumpf Again

John Oliver's show posts only four videos a month (usually the main segment from each Sunday's episode). To put that number in perspective, that's about how many clips The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon posts per weekday. Still, this clip — in which Oliver lays out the case for carefully considering Trump's checkered history before pulling that voting lever, and encourages people to start calling him by his family's original name — outperformed all the other late-night shows' YouTube content by more than 9 million views.

5. Carpool Karaoke: Jennifer Lopez Edition

The latest Carpool Karaoke segment from CBS' Late Late Show With James Corden is the newest clip on this list, published with just three days left in the month. But it's wasted no time getting into the top five.

6. 'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer

This St. Patrick's Day had comic fans seeing blue (mutants) instead of green, as 20th Century Fox showed us what Magneto, Raven and Charles Xavier have been up to since Days of Future Past.

7. 'Saturday Night Live' Tidal sketch

This was the top sketch from Ariana Grande's episode, in which she played an intern who saved the day by doing impressions of Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion when the streaming service's servers went on strike.

8. Foo Fighters band announcement

This band breakup parody is probably not what fans were expecting when the band posted a cryptic tweet promising a major band announcement. But given their sense of humor and track record, maybe we should have.

9. Matt Damon sneaks onto 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

Oh, as if the Martian star was going to pass up an opportunity to use an appearance by BFF Ben Affleck to launch a surprise attack on the late-night host, with whom he's engaged in a decade-long fake feud?

10 . 'Damn Daniel!' visits 'Ellen'

What started out as an inside joke between two California high school pals, in which one complimented the other's white Vans as he strutted around a pool deck, has mushroomed into one of the year's biggest memes. Daniel Lara, a competitive swimmer, ended up turning down a modeling contract so that he can remain eligible for an athletic scholarship in a few years.
