David Bowie's new single now has a beautiful animated video
Here's yet another reminder of the staggering work that is David Bowie's final album, Blackstar.
Three months after his death at 69, the rock legend's third single from Blackstar, I Can't Give Everything Away, just got an animated lyrics video, bringing to life the evocative and chilling message of the album's closing song which, though fans didn't know it at the time, was Bowie saying goodbye.
I know something is very wrong
The pulse returns the prodigal sons
The blackout hearts, the flowered news
With skull designs upon my shoes
I can't give everything
I can't give everything
Away
If the harmonica at the beginning of the song sounds familiar, it's actually a callback to another Bowie classic, A New Career In A New Town from 1977's Low one of the many brilliant references hidden (or not-so-hidden) throughout Blackstar.
We miss him every day.
