Hot star alert: Blake Lively wows Cannes Film Festival in simmering red

CANNES, France — Blake Lively made a bold fashion statement at the opening day of Cannes Film Festival. Fire-engine red bold.

Lively rocked a bright red sleeveless pantsuit with a flowing silk scarf Wednesday for her starring role in Woody Allen's Café Society.

The actress is expecting her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, but any baby bump was hardly noticeable because of a well-placed sash around her waist.

She hung out with her co-star Kristen Stewart in front of the famed Cannes wall of photographers, then made a low-key appearance at the press conference alongside Allen, Stewart and co-star Jesse Eisenberg.

Lively did answer one question about the dog-eat-dog Hollywood world, saying that it's the media that has become rabid, wanting all the details on stars' private lives.

"And when they don't get it, they just make it up," Lively added, as Stewart nodded her head in agreement. Right on, sister.

Lively and the Café Society group will make a red-carpet appearance later for the glamorous opening night of the festival.
