3 'Mindy Project' moments we can only describe as Mindearing

There are some things you might've noticed about Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling). She doesn't really have girlfriends. She seems to have forgotten about her goddaughter, and misplaced her former co-workers, Shauna and Betsy—oh no, call somebody quick. We're falling down the black hole that Judy Winslow never crawled out of.

Or, maybe you've just noticed, on the recently renewedMindy Project, that Dr. L has a lack of Indian friends. An Indian date thought it was odd, and even went so far as to call her a "coconut" and alleged that she was "brown on the outside and white on the inside." As she was trying to prove her Indian-ness (not that she needed to), she gave us these magnificent Mindy moments.

1. The awkward first non-kiss

At the end of a blind date, Mindy's first-ever date with an Indian man, she closed her eyes and leaned in for a little smooch only to fall into her guy who was not interested.

"Sorry. You were supposed to catch me with your lips," Mindy said. While we'd be wishing Criss Angel, who sublets upstairs from Mindy, could make us disappear, Mindy was a little less embarrassed.

"I only had five garlic knots at dinner 'cause I thought we were gonna make out," she said confidently. Way to plan ahead.

2. Her reaction to Danny's request to take Leo to Italy

Danny (Chris Messina) wanted to take Leo to Italy for a week so he could see where he came from, and, coincidentally, where the ancestors of his namesake, Leonardo ~~DiCaprio~~ da Vinci are from.

At first, Mindy was opposed. "He's very young to be exposed to those naked statues," she said. "He already has the perv gene." But eventually, she came around under two conditions: (1) she Skypes with Leo every day, and (2) she gets "one of those photos where it looks like he's holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa."

3. When she learned about mundan

At a party with lots of Indian guests, Mindy met a baby who just had her head shaved to shed past lives, as part of a Hindu ceremony. After being briefed, Mindy remembered a time when she too shed her tresses. "It's like when I tore out my ratchet extensions to say goodbye to my skanky twenties," she said.

Mindy, Mindy, Mindy, where would we be without your sage, albeit slightly offensive wisdom?
