De Niro to J-Law on GLAAD stage: 'If I were a lesbian, I'd be all over you'

Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence, who've worked together on films Silver Linings Playbook and Joy have a loving relationship.

That much was clear at the GLAAD Media Awards Saturday night, where Lawrence presented her co-star with an award.

"Robert De Niro is not gay, so I don't know why we're here," Lawrence joked. "That aside, Bob has asked me to present him with GLAAD's Excellence in Media award, because in his own words I'm 'like a daughter' to him. And that transpires in our once-a-week drinks at the Greenwich Hotel where I ask him advice about absolutely everything. And also when he gets drunk and pinches my cheek and says, 'You remind me of my little Helen,' who's four."

Lawrence was sincere, too. "As one of the greatest actors who's ever lived, I can learn a lot from him. But one of the most important things he's taught us, is acceptance." She continued, "Bob is the kindest person I've ever met. His heart is so giving... Bob, you are wise and you are loving, and the world is truly better because of you."

De Niro, who has become an LGBT advocate and was touched by his father, "a gay man who struggled with self acceptance," as Lawrence said, accepted the award with a smile. He complimented Lawrence on her philanthropic efforts, and said, "If I were a lesbian, I'd be all over you. Being a father figure has his limitations."
