Leslie Jones reveals she was a telemarketer for Scientology on 'Ellen'

Sometimes you just gotta pay the bills.

Leslie Jones and her Ghostbusters co-stars, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon, sat on Ellen DeGeneres' long couch for an episode of the talk show that aired Wednesday. And the conversation turned to the lives the actresses had before they were megastars.

(You might not be afraid of no ghosts, but what about the wrath of your boss? Some brief cursing makes this video NSFW.)

Jones was a telemarketer for Scientology, though she is not a member of the church.

"I lived in Glendale," Jones explained to Ellen. "I needed to pay the rent, and it was a very easy interview. I just acted crazy."

Not everyone in Hollywood is comfortable openly critiquing the religion on television, including Ellen. "Oh, boy. Now, you're in trouble. I didn't say that," the host joked.

McKinnon even cuddled up next to Wiig to physically disassociate from Jones — and maybe to protect herself in case Tom Cruise was prepped to do anymore couch jumping.

McKinnon has an interesting work history herself. She was an umpire for children's ball games. "In retrospect, I shoulda brushed up on the rules of softball before litigating them, but I didn't and oh, I got yelled at," she said.

Now, thankfully Jones and McKinnon both have jobs at Saturday Night Live, where the two have become close. However, after knowing each other about a year, there was one royal mix-up.

"We happen to be out to dinner," McKinnon said. "And, (Jones) looked at me, and she was like, 'Kate Middleton, you all right.' And I was like, 'Leslie, it's McKinnon. You've known me a year.'"

At this point, Jones picked up the story. "And then I was like, 'Well, who is Middleton then? And then she was like, 'It's a princess, (expletive).'"

Lesson learned.
